5 Easy Steps to Looking and Feeling like a Movie Star
We all want to look our best when we go out, well, at least most of the time. However, being sexy and stylish takes time and work, and most people tend to be too busy with work, household chores, different errands and having a somewhat active social life to be able to afford the extra hour or two to work on their style. In those moments when we can be bothered to really put some effort into our look, we often realize just how much we have neglected this aspect of our lives and how many things need some more work. Well, it’s time to stop moping about all the things that we don’t have time for, and actually start making a difference. Here are several surefire ways of getting that movie star look.
1. Learn how to dress with style
It’s very important to keep up with the latest fashion trends, and to understand what kind of clothes work best with your figure. Don’t just slap on some clothes on you and leave the house — being stylish also means being a bit more time-efficient. You’ll need to get up at least 30–40 minutes earlier, so that you can get ready without rushing. You can lay out several outfits on Sunday, so that you can just grab things off the coat rack during the week.
2. Fix your smile
A wide and shiny smile is what really gets people to warm up to you, and this is why you have to take good care of your oral hygiene. It’s best not to wait until there is a huge problem before going to a dentist, as it will cost you a lot more and things can get fairly painful and complicated. Schedule regular visits where you can clean up your teeth and gums and do some basic oral maintenance. It only takes a few trips to the dentist here and there, coupled with good oral hygiene habits at home, and you’ll be able to laugh confidently.
3. Lift some heavy weight and run
There is no real way of going around this — lifting heavy weights is the key to staying healthy, looking good and feeling confident and full of energy. There are different ways to achieve any fitness goal, but you’ll have to remember a few basic things:
- Find a good existing program for your experience level
- Go for full-body or upper-lower and push-pull type splits
- Hit the big muscle groups first, using barbell and dumbbell compound exercises
- Keep adding reps, weight or sets and focus on becoming stronger each time you train
There is no better way to get a good physique and boost confidence than training for strength 3–4 times a week.
4. Start walking the walk
It’s difficult to get into the finer points of confident and agreeable body language without writing at least a hundred pages on the topic, but let’s just say you should try to focus on these important things:
- Walk tall
- Keep your head held high/chin up
- Open up your body by retracting the shoulders slightly and raising your chest
- Try to show your open palms to the people you talk to
- Keep eye contact
- Make subtle and slower movements, and think before you move
An erect posture, lack of jittery movements and nervous ticks, and a nice little smile are sure to win everyone over, and help you project confidence.
5. Work on your communication skills
If you want to be taken seriously and have your words make great impact on your audience, you’ll have to work on proper pronunciation, avoid filler words such as “like” or “uh” at all costs, speak in a deeper voice and try to talk slowly and loud enough to be heard clearly. You don’t have to turn yourself into a rhetoric genius, just to improve your communication skills enough to come across as interesting and well-spoken.
With these basic tips down, you can make a huge impact on the way you feel and the way others perceive you. Remember, confidence and charm are all in the little details and come from within, but you also want to look good on the outside if you want to leave an incredible first impression.
