How to Entertain Children during a Birthday Party
Entertainment is an important aspect of any children’s party. It means that they are supposed to have a good time, and it helps you monitor them, since they are all preoccupied and in one place. However, it is hard to find an activity that will keep the kids busy for a long time, therefore you need to come up with more than one possible interesting game or activity. Also, try to come up with activities and entertainment that is engaging for everybody. If you make competitions, the losing team might start to feel bad and the whole thing will begin to bother them soon. Here are a few suggestions you can try out, if you are in need of creative activities for your kid’s birthday party.
Make a costume theme party
One of the easiest things you can do is state, on the invitation, that the party you are throwing will be a costume themed one. Other parents might go through some trouble to find an adequate costume for their kids, but there are many perks to this kind of party. For example, kids will most likely come up with games of their own. Usually, these are imaginative scenarios, in which everyone can participate and play the role they like to play.
You can always make a competition in which children themselves are supposed to vote for their peers, in order to decide who has the best costume. This way, they will know it is their decision who will win — of course, tell them they cannot vote for themselves. In this scenario, there are no hard feelings because it is their decision who wins. It would also be nice to prepare some sort of rewards for the top three costumes at the party.
Piñata
If there is one game that is both fun and engaging for the players as well as for the observers, it is definitely the Piñata. These are quite bothersome to make, so you can perhaps find a few and buy them so that more children can have their turn, and throw a couple of blind folded swings at the hanging donkey. If you are trying to create a piñata yourself, do not worry about the design. After all, it is the concept of a game that is more enticing than the appearance of the item, plus if the piñata does not look that good, breaking it will come much easier — with no hard feelings.
Divide kids in a few teams, and say that each player has 2 minutes to try and break the piñata. Also do not fill them with too much candy so that kids don’t end up with a stomach ache — throw in 4–5 chocolate bars and the rest can be confetti.
Exotic pets
Kids love observing animals, especially those animals they can’t see on an everyday basis — in other words, exotic pets. This is actually quite a common form of birthday entertainment, people hire exotic animal owners to attend the party, and display their pets, so that children can play with them. Of course, people are professionals, and animals are harmless so, rest assured, the children are safe.
This is a great way for kids to gather, observe and actually learn something. Additionally, you can also rely on these people to serve the cake that is made in the shape of something exotic, so that can be one less thing to worry about as far as the party is concerned.
Water gun fight
In the event your party is taking place during a scorching summer day, there is a way to help children cool off and have fun at the same time. A water gun fight will certainly be a fun activity, however you need to introduce some rules in order for party to be under control. The best way to prevent kids from running wild and accidently falling, is to divide them into two teams. Then each team picks one representative, and they have a duel with water guns. Each of them takes five steps, turns around and is supposed to spray the other one. The first one who lends a hit wins and that team earns one point. Then, another two representatives are selected and the whole process is repeated.
